AIDS in Zambia and Precious Kawinga’s story

Meet Precious Kawinga from Lusaka, Zambia. She is a mother of 2 young boys and a reformed sex worker who is HIV positive.

She now works with women in Zambia educating them on HIV and AIDS issues and entrepreneurial skills to help people work themselves out of poverty. She also now runs a talk show that is very new to Zambia called Positively Precious which aims to encourage people to build a positive frame of mind and live life to the fullest.

Included in the audio/visual slide show are pictures taken around Lusaka, Zambia. Some of the images include murals painted by Stary Mwaba on behalf of consortium member 80:20 Educating and Acting for a Better World along with a number of Zambian organisations, such as CSPR Zambia and Zaran as well as local schools.

The audio slideshow, produced, recorded and photographed by Frank Miller, can be accessed on the Irish Times website https://www.irishtimes.com/indepth/slideshows/zambia-aids/ and is an excellently told audio/visual 4minute journey into one of Zambia’s ‘living positively’ female role models.
