Written by John Hammond at the CDU in Dublin, A Global Curriculum? Development Education and the Junior Certificate sought to respond to the optimism and possibilities of the new ‘Junior Cycle’, first introduced in 1989.
Aimed at enthusiastic teachers, school principals, educationalists, this study ‘argues realistically and correctly the potential for development education exists at the core of all subjects.’
This study was unapologetically ahead of its time – in seeking to discover the place of development education in the Junior Cycle curriculum and in seeking to make these ideas available and accessible to educationalists as a challenge and an opportunity.
