At the Youth Strike for the Climate on Friday, September 20th 2019, the strikers’ alarms on their phones rang out at 11 minutes to 1pm as part of a symbolic moment.
On the main stage, a clock was smashed as part of this moment to highlight the 11 years left to avert a climate catastrophe and prevent irreversible damage to the planet.
Scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have stated that ‘unprecedented’ action needed to prevent 1.5C of global warming by 2030.
