The choice of text, the striking visual imagery and the realities of life in some of the most challenging contexts on the planet.

Posters continue to occupy important sites for ’reading’ and ‘learning’ as part of broader awareness raising actions. They are also campaigning and advocacy-work staples as a popular tool for public engagement.

Developed by Trócaire as part of the annual Lent fundraising campaign, this striking poster coincided with the launch of Sony PlayStation 2 – the epicentre of popular videogame culture. The poster introduced a number of themes such as childhood, conflict and play. The mirror it casts on the reader, particularly from youthful eyes, is haunting.
