As part of international development education activities, Voluntary Service International (VSI) organise international exchanges of volunteers between Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. These exchanges enable Irish people and people from other European countries to gain an insight into and understanding of developing countries.
Over the years many participants on exchanges to India have brought back photos, slides, brochures, books, music etc. It was felt the slides in particular helped to introduce and raise awareness of issues encountered, stimulate discussions on the similarities and differences with our own culture and to provide an educational resource that can be used by various groups. For these reasons a group of VSI volunteers gathered slides from returned participants, compiled the accompanying information and produced this Slide Resource Pack on India.
