2020 marks the 15th year of the Our World Irish Aid Award. The anniversary theme, ‘A Better World,’ invites primary teachers and pupils to learn about the Global Goals and the work supported by Irish Aid, Ireland’s official international development programme. Schools are supported with:
- Child-friendly resources, like the very popular 12-page pupil’s magazine (available in English and ‘as Gaeilge’)
- Curriculum-linked teaching materials to help teachers deliver across the primary curriculum areas (with teacher resource sheets & pupil worksheets available in English and ‘as Gaeilge’)
- An easy to use website with further information and project ideas
“I would highly recommend taking part in the Our World Irish Aid Awards as the lessons and resources provided encourage a hands-on, active approach to learning. Students are invited to use their own creativity and present their projects using song, rap, poetry, art, video etc. From a teaching perspective, engagement with the Our World Irish Aid Awards Programme provides vast opportunities for learning and skills development through integration with other curricular areas.
The students had so much fun, made deeper connections with their community and had an unforgettable experience at the National Finals in Dublin Castle (as well as helping to save the planet along the way!). Our students have become ambassadors for a more sustainable world, and we are confident that with young citizens like them, the future of our world is in safe hands.”
