As a teacher you will understand more than most, the role that science plays in making the world a better place: whether that is by combatting diseases, delivering improvements to our quality of life, Innovating and future-proofing the planet by developing and deploying new technologies to solve environmental problems like climate change.
Self Help Africa’s special category Science for Development Award which has been presented for the past 20 years at the newly named Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (SYSTE), celebrates the ideas and the innovation of school-going students whose projects might make the world a better place. The Irish Aid sponsored prize is a travel bursary, this enables the winning project student and their teacher to travel to one of Self Help Africa’s programme countries.
The ‘Science for Development Webinar’ series provides an opportunity to introduce your students to the award, so that they might be inspired and encouraged when creating and developing their Stripe Young Science and Technology Exhibition projects. These hour-long online sessions provide a unique opportunity for students to engage with their peers and with development professionals from Self Help Africa working to achieve positive change in the world.
