The Worlds Largest Lesson
Summary
On September 25th 2015, 193 world leaders committed to 17 Global Goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things in the next 15 years: End extreme poverty, fight inequality & injustice and fix climate change. The World’s Largest Lesson (WLL) aims to facilitate all schools from around the globe to teach their pupils about these goals.
The WLL includes lesson plans, an animation film, a comic book, a ‘child friendly’ guide to the goals, and supports to help school children take action. These are all available in several different languages. The lesson plans require a registration with the site to access. All other resources are readily available for download.

Description
Lesson plans: The WLL includes 25 lesson plans covering the various topics included in the goals. Each lesson has a target age range. The lesson include a comprehensive overview of the topic addressed, including learning outcomes, and prep materials needed. The lesson plans include activity ideas, resources for activities and suggestions for further reading and resources
Animation film: This film, introduced by Malala Yousafzai, is engaging and fun introduction to these topics. The video talks though the problems of the world, along with the possible solutions. The overall theme is that everyone has ‘superpowers’ that they can use to change the world.
Comic book: ‘Heroes for change’ is a short comic book which brings to life the SDGs. This comic is unique and is suitable as a fun way to engage young people on the global goal agenda. The comics theme follows on from the theme of the animation film, in that it encourages children to be ‘superheroes’ for the global development agenda.
Children’s guide to SDGs: ‘The world we want’ booklet ‘was written by and for children and young people across the world. It explains the language and detail of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.’ The booklet has word searches, animations and uses child friendly language to explain the SDGs
Taking action: This section includes a ‘design for change’ lesson plan, and a toolkit for activism. The DFC 4 step FEEL, IMAGINE, DO and SHARE process is broken up into 7 sessions, of 45 minutes each. Children will learn the skills of Leadership, Communication, Teamwork, Confidence, Critical and Creative thinking as well as being inspired to be ‘superhero’ activists for global change. This lesson plan is suitable for the age group of the overall WLL i.e. 15 and under
The toolkit is aimed at 15-25 year olds. It guides this age group through the process of creating a youth advocacy plan for the SDG agenda.
